A book about Holes

Today in this 11 blog post of A Blog I am going to talk about a book I have read before. I read it in third grade and again in sixth but I still remember it. The title of the book is called Holes by Louis Sachar.

This book is about a boy named “Stanley Yelnats IV” and the story of how he was put in a camp for teens that have broken the law. But how he is put in the camp is not the crazy part of the book. The crazy part is why he thinks is put in the camp. He believes that there is a century old curse that was on scent on to the first Stanley Yelnats and now he thinks he caught the curse.

He was put in there for stealing very expensive shoes, that he did not even steal. So he somehow has the shoes in his possession and he is stuck with a choice, jail or camp. He gets put into camp where he meets a weird group of friends with there own nickname that best fit their personality.

There at the camp you have to dig holes all day in the blazing hot sun for the owner of the camp. She created this camp so teenagers that have done bad things will dig holes to find a buried treasure chest that she has been searching for her whole life. But she is not just searching for buried treasure, she is also trying to find old artifacts from a cowgirl “Kissing Kate Barlow”.

It turns out that “Stanley” and his friend “Hector Zero Zeroni”  find the treasure, but it has “Stanley Yelnats” engraved on the side of it. He goes home and opens it to find billions of dollars worth of gold and silver.
